Expo 2020

United Arab Emirates

Expo 2020 Dubai, held from October 2021 to March 2022, was a global showcase of innovation, culture, and sustainability.

Countries from around the world came together to present pavilions filled with immersive technologies, offering a unique visitor experience.

Pulse Middle East played an essential role in delivering AVL solutions for the Peru, Norway, and Dubai Cares and PPE Hub Pavilions, enhancing their exhibits and engagement.

Pulse’s team was entrusted with the responsibility of designing, installing and operating comprehensive AVL systems in these high-profile pavilions.

The company’s expertise in delivering cutting-edge technologies ensured that each pavilion stood out in terms of experience and impact.

1-Peru Pavilion

The Peru Pavilion aimed to showcase the rich cultural heritage and biodiversity of Peru. The challenge was to create an immersive experience that seamlessly integrated audio-visual content with Peru’s vibrant cultural narrative. Pulse Middle East deployed Resolume, Martin Audio, Panasonic, Watchout and Pixilab  technologies to provide synchronized audio and visual elements. The use of Panasonic Projectors and Screens along with Pixilab enabled dynamic visual storytelling, while Martin Audio and Powersoft solutions ensured high-quality sound delivery.

One of the key challenges was ensuring that the AVL systems could operate harmoniously across the multi-level pavilion without disrupting the visitor flow. Pulse addressed this by implementing centralized control systems and streamlined routing with Symetrix and Audinate solutions, ensuring smooth transitions between exhibits.

2-Norway Pavilion

The Norway Pavilion focused on sustainability and environmental awareness, featuring immersive AVL experiences that reflected the country’s natural landscapes.

Key technologies included Martin Audio, Prolights, Samsung Displays and Panasonic Projectors for visual displays, which helped simulate the beauty of Norway’s oceans in a ship like building creating a 360º immersive experience as you walk around the ship viewing out of the portals of the displays. Syncronizing 20 displays with surround sound audio to create the immersive show experience. The seamless integration of these systems was crucial in maintaining the pavilion’s tranquil ambiance while engaging visitors.

However, creating a balance between immersive soundscapes and interactive displays was a significant challenge. Pulse implemented Pixilab control systems to manage AV content across different sections, ensuring smooth synchronization. Symetrix and Midas solutions provided clarity and balanced sound distribution, enhancing the overall immersive effect.

3-Dubai Cares Pavilion

Dubai Cares, a UAE-based charity focused on global education, used its pavilion to highlight the importance of education worldwide. Pulse was tasked with creating an engaging and informative AVL experience. By integrating projectors, displays, digital lighting, and Interactive games baced around audio visual, the pavilion was able to offer interactive displays and powerful presentations.

It famously had many interactive experiences from interactive iPad applications, VR headset experiences and a 3 player stomping ground game which triggered lighting and a race to the top with triggered audio and a competition within a screaming booth of who could scream the loudest lighting up a digital sound meter made from Pixel LED controlled by Pixilab and Madrix.
One room told a story by mapping projector onto books and syncronizing the score with a large scale projector wall integrating Watchout to syncronize the mapping, wall projection, audio and lighting.

The main challenge was ensuring that the AVL systems could accommodate the educational themes while being visually captivating. Pulse team implemented Digital Projection and NEC for sharp visuals, while Shure microphones ensured clear communication throughout. The result was an effective blend of education and entertainment that engaged visitors on both an emotional and intellectual level.

4-PPE Hub

At Expo 2020 Dubai, the PPE Hub stood out as one of the most vibrant and crowded venues, and Pulse was proud to contribute to its success. Our team installed a striking 1.9 curved LED screen that became a centerpiece of the hub’s visual experience.

To ensure seamless connectivity and immersive interactions, we implemented a cutting-edge video-over-Dante streaming solution, linking the main hall to three different rooms.

By using vMix, we provided real-time live feedback, creating a smooth and dynamic experience for attendees.

The result? A visually captivating and technically flawless environment that elevated the Pavilion into one of the most memorable spaces at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Across all three pavilions, Pulse Middle East utilized PIXILab for advanced media control, allowing the smooth integration of multimedia elements across various zones. The use of digital projection and audio routing systems, including Audinate and Powersoft, ensured a high level of technical efficiency while maintaining visual and auditory consistency.

Additionally, smart networking solutions such as Ubiquiti was integrated to manage large volumes of data traffic without downtime.

Expo 2020 was monumental. Each pavilion had its own challenges, but we were able to leverage our technical knowledge and innovative solutions to deliver on the client’s vision. It was an honor to be part of such a global event, and we’re proud of the impact we made.”
